As the situation at Premier League club Tottenham has demonstrated, having the right manager in place, and spending close to £80 million doesn’t always guarantee success. When all of the components involved are not working in harmony then there can be problems.
Clarence says that making changes at a football club is no different from setting up a new company, and that clubs need to be patient and not make rash decisions because of a run of poor results. And stop playing the ‘blame-game’.
“There is no one to blame. When you start a company, the company normally loses money for 3 years. You don’t start a company and after 1 year say, it’s not working I am going to change everything again.
“If Tottenham has a project and they are convinced they have the right manager in place and are convinced they have the right players, then they have to be patient.
“Tottenham’s position at the moment does not reflect in anyway their capabilities. Having good players and a good project doesn’t always mean success, as Real Madrid proved with their Galactico team.”
